Renaud Jerez
Lives and works in Paris.
Renaud Jerez is known for his sculptures, paintings and installations, combining debasement, humour, satire, and the possible construction of a cheeky future.
His installations, made up of depraved human figures consumed by architecture and technology, address notions of hygiene and fluidity, and short-circuit the proclaimed progress of the new information networks.
His pictorial practice, consisting of plays with surface and framing, and alternating pure tones and veiled, semi-pixelated touches, bring the modern utopias of the beginning of the century into coexistence with their decadent contemporary mirror, revealing tensions and authorities between the real and figurative worlds.
His recent solo exhibitions include Accélération, Crèvecœur, Paris (FR), Miroir Noir, Musée des Abattoirs, Toulouse (FR), Narcissism and Depression, Jenny’s, Los Angeles (US), Renaud Jerez, ICA, Miami (US), GLMAOUR, Fahrenheit, Los Angeles
(USA), Presidential Lounge, National Gallery, Prague (CZ). He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris (FR), the Consortium, Dijon (FR), the Tripostal/Lille 3000 (FR), the Dortmunder Kunstverein (DE), the Kunsthalle Mainz (DE), the MAAT, Lisbon (PT), the KAI10, Arthena Foundation, Düsseldorf (DE), the New Museum, New York (USA)…
