Emilie Renard
Emilie Renard is a curator and a writer.
From 2013 to 2018, she’s the director of La Galerie, contemporary art center in Noisy-le-Sec where she curated solo shows of Hedwig Houben and Jean-Charles de Quillacq (2018), Pierre Joseph (2015), John Smith (2014), Laura Lamiel (2013), and group shows such as “Your Hands in My shoes” with curator Vanessa Desclaux (2016-2017), Greek-type Problems (2015) or “Goodbye Sadness, Desire, Lassitude, Appetite, Pleasure” (2013). She curated several shows, including most recently: OEil de lynx et tête de bois, associate curator to Barbara Sirieix, at Occidental temporary, Villejuif, (2016) ; Intense Proximity, La Triennale, Paris, at Palais de Tokyo in 2012, as an associate curator to Okwui Enwezor, with Mélanie Bouteloup, Claire Staebler and Abdellah Karroum, “With Bruce Lee, it’s possible” (2011-2012) at National Art in Lyon ; La ronde (The Circle Dance), Ferme du Buisson (2011), The Waves with the novel by Virginia Woolf as the catalogue of the show at FRAC Pays de la Loire (2010), Monsieur Miroir for the Prix de la Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard (2010), INSIDERS – experience, practices, know—how, at CAPC Musée d’art contemporain, Bordeaux, associate curator with Charlotte Laubard and Yann Chateigné Tytelman (2009), Bonnes résolutions en haute montagne, Atelier Cardenas Belanger, Paris (2007), Madame la baronne était plutôt maniérée, assez rococo et totalement baroque. Acte 1, Chapitre 2, Volume 3, Livre 4, Maison Populaire, Montreuil (2006). From 2001 to 2006, she run Public, a curator run space in Paris, with Aurélie Voltz and Giovanna Zapperi. As a writer and curator, she questions the modalities of fiction and characters in contemporary art forms. In 2009-2010, she lead researches about resurgences of the Arcadian myth with, in 2009, a symposium—festival at Saint—Etienne’s art school where she also teaches, as to a contribution to rosab, an on line magazine edited by CAPC and art school in Bordeaux : rosab.net (www.rosab.net/arcadie.html). From 2002 to 2010, she is co—editor of Trouble magazine and catalogue for fictive show (troublearchives.wordpress.com).
