Artist Adrien Missika will be present at the screening, co-organized with the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, where he will be awarded the 13th Prix Fondation d’entreprise Ricard.
Besides a selection of videos, this screening of Prospectif Cinéma features Dome, a work which is now part of the collection of the Musée national d’art moderne. In Dome, a young man explores the unfinished architecture of Oscar Niemeyer on the site of the Tripoli International Fair in Lebanon (1968-1974). This huge dome was to accommodate a circular auditorium, but the building was never completed. Thousands of steel rods hang from the ceiling and the place, now deserted, is an incredible resonance chamber in which the slightest sound produces a deafening echo. Shot in Super 8, a film format contemporary with the construction period, Dome was later transferred to a digital format.
Dome is also being presented in room 18 of the Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Pompidou, level 4, beginning on May 23, 2012.
