Following the success of the 2006 and 2007 editions, for the third year in a row FIAC and the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard collaborate on the Young Curators Invitational (YCI) program.
YCI’s objective is to bring to Paris, during the week of FIAC, a group of five promising figures among the emerging generation of intellectuals, critics and exhibition curators. Selected from proposals made by international insitutions, FIAC and the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard organise four days of meetings with personalities of the Parisian art scene.
The 2009 YCI participants are:
• Vincenzo de Bellis & Bruna Roccasalva (Milan)
• Johannes Fricke Waldthausen (Berlin)
• Christina Linden (Annandale-on-Hudson, NY)
• Sarah Robayo Sheridan (Toronto)
• Zhang Yaxuan (Beijing)
They were individually recommended by the members of the selection committee composed of:
• Ann Ellegood, Hammer Museum – Los Angeles
• Jens Hofmann, Wattis Institute – San Francisco
• Beatrix Ruf, Kusnthalle – Zurich
• Christine Macel, Centre Pompidou – Paris
• Hu Fang, Commissaire indépendant – Guangzhu
FIAC and the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard are committed to following the professional progression of the YCI program participants by offering them the chance to discover under ideal conditions the lively artisitc scene and to meet the actors in the art world who have come to Paris during the fair.
ARTIVIwww.artivi.com
This year, the Ricard Foundation supports Artivi to present a series of videos capturing live the pulse of the 2008 edition of this important event for Contemporary Art in Paris.
For the occasion, Artivi is exclusively producing a series of programs to be broadcast around Fiac (in the Grand Palais and the Cour Carrée du Louvre) on screens set up for visiting audiences.
With this collaboration, Artivi continues its project dedicated to Contemporary Art which began in 2005. The website www.artivi.com is a gallery of video portraits, consistently enriched by key figures in Contemporary Art and major art world events.
However Artivi is also an « art guide » dedicated to galleries, and maintaining an up to date listing of current exhibitions. This guide, which covers all of the major capitols of Contemporary Art, presents only the galleries that participate in at least one of the five major international fairs, a criteria for selection that ensures quality.
