Pierre Ardouvin is inviting Violaine Boutet de Monvel for a discussion revolving around his new exhibition at the Praz-Delavallade gallery in Paris. This conversation will also be a chance for the artist to discuss his artistic practice and the influences that punctuate his work. A signature of the recently published « Return from Abyssinia » catalogue will be organised at the end of the meeting.
Pierre Ardouvin was born in 1955 in Crest, France. He lives and works in Paris. His work has appeared in many solo and group exhibitions in France and abroad, at such institutions as the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2005, 2010), Fundación Jumex, Mexico City (2008) and MMCA, Seoul (2011). In 2016, MAC/VAL dedicated a solo exhibition to his work, entitled “Tout est affaire de décor”. Since September 2018, TOPAZ Arts in New York has been presenting a series of new works. Today, Pierre Ardouvin’s work can be found in many international public and private collections.
Violaine Boutet de Monvel is a writer, art critic and translator. She has been contributing to international contemporary art magazines since 2006. She is the author of monographs and exhibition catalogues exploring the work of artists like Grégory Chatonsky, Amélie Bertrand, Benjamin Sabatier, Pierre Ardouvin and Jan Fabre.
