BIOGRAPHIES
A writer, artist, and curator, Zbynek Baladrán was one of the founders of the gallery Display in Prague in 2001. In 2007, the place became Tanzitdisplay. With Vit Habranek, he designed the research project on social transformations titled Monument to Transformation, presented at the Plateau in Paris, and which resulted in the publication of Atlas of Transformation. Recently, Baladrán was also on the curatorial team of Manifesta 8 (Murcia, Spain). Starting in April, he will be in residence at the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers.
Louise Hervé received her training from the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Cergy, while Chloé Maillet holds a Ph.D. in Anthropological History from the EHESS in Paris. Together, they direct futuristic films or put together didactic performances, mixing references borrowed from history and archeology as well as genre films, with a preference for peplums. Their conferences alternate between erudition and humor, scientific discourse and anecdotes. Their work was recently shown at the Palais de Tokyo and the Musée d’art Moderne de la Ville de Paris as part of the exhibition Dynasty, at the Centre Pompidou, and at the Marcelle Alix gallery.
Olivier Rohe is the author of three novels, Défaut d’origine (« Manufacturing Defect, » Allia, 2003), Terrain vague (« Waste Ground, » Allia, 2005) and Un Peuple en petit (« A People in Miniature, » Gallimard, 2009), as well as a biographical fiction on David Bowie, Nous autres (« We Here, » Naïve, 2005). In 2007 he co-wrote Une année en France (« A Year in France, » Gallimard), an essay on politics, with François Bégaudeau and Arno Bertina, and took part in the writing of the collective novel Une chic fille (« A Swell Girl, » Inculte/Naïve), devoted to Anna Nicole Smith. He is a founding member of the periodical Inculte and collaborates to several reviews and magazines.
Jérôme Schmidt is a musician and has worked with Richard Pinhas since 2000, first as part of the project Schizotrope (2000-2004), then in a duet or a trio. He also had collaborations with Rick Moody (Grand Prix de la Création Radiophonique 2005), Norman Spinrad, Hubert Selby Jr. or Eric Arlix. In 2004 he created Inculte, at once a publishing house and a periodical, with Claro, Oliver Rohe, Mathieu Larnaudie, Benoît Maurer, Arno Bertina, and a few other people. He is also the author of many documentary films and essays around cultural issues, notably on the world of casinos and gambling.
