Fiction / Performed readings #9
The Fondation d’entreprise Ricard is proud to host the third season of Fiction/Performed Readings, a programm initiated by Agnès Violeau and Christian Alandete, as part of the initiatives conducted in association with the periodical J’aime beaucoup ce que vous faites [« I Like Your Work a Lot »]. This new season continues to explore all possible forms of public readings through originals suggestions from contemporary artists and writers.
Since their creation in 2008, these evenings have already presented the work of more than twenty contemporary artists and writers through performances and videos’ fuelling current debates, about narration’s place in contemporary creation.
For the first evening Fiction presents a first work performed by the Norwegian artist Gardar Eide Einarsson, as well as an intervention by the performers Jean-Baptiste Bruant & Maria Spangaro. The evening will start with the first part of Céline Duval‘s slideshow documentation.
BIOGRAPHIES
Gardar EIDE EINARSSON
Born in 1976 in Oslo (Norway). Lives and works in New York.
In his paintings, drawings and wall-drawings, Gardar Eide Einarsson mobilises signs and stereotypes circulating in our socius, coming from subcultures (graffiti, logos), or from corporations and minorities (punk…). His work inspires from a musical, (metal, black metal), and textual, (truism, ambiguous messages, palimpsests), iconography. Gardar Eide Einarsson takes position on social and institutional critics which are playing with paranoia and relations between power and moral, via a production often on the edge abstract art. His work pieces sound like a call of awareness of our world’s traumatism. Einarsson was recently invited for a one-man show at the Cosmic Gallery (Paris). He participated to numerous exhibitions through the world: at Los Angeles (2007); at the Kunstverein Frankfurt at Frankfurt (2007); at the Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art of Helsinki (2001); at the Team Gallery in New York (2009); or at the PS1 in New York as well as at the Withney Biennial, Whitney Museum, New York (2008).
Gardar Eide Einarsson is represented by the Team Gallery (NYC) and the Cosmic Gallery/Bugada Gargnel (Paris).
Jean-Baptiste BRUANT & Maria SPANGARO
Born respectively in 1961 and in 1964. Work and live in Paris.
Since a few years Jean-Baptiste Bruant’s work is inseparable from Maria Spangaro’s. Together they produce actions resulting from physical experiences and by energizing body and voice. At the junction of corporal art and sonorous poetry, they develop strange forms where the text (in his oral form) and the body are intimately linked. In 2005, the Cneai published a double cd Sonorous devise to radically listen to angles (Dispositif sonore pour écouter radicalement les anges), result from collaboration with teenagers. Their work (individually and collectively) is regularly shown to art centres in France or abroad.
Documentation Céline Duval
Born in 1974 at Saint-Germain-en-Laye, lives and work in Houlgate, Calvados.
Céline Duval constitutes since ten years an incredible iconographic set gathering amateur’s photography, magazine images, post cards, press pictures and her own photography. From this data base, the artist creates formal or thematic associations to realise a magazine in four images, books, multiples, slides and sometimes movies. At the same time researcher and archivist, she builds by image association a form of narration in which different temporality confuse. To open and end this new season of Fiction/Performed readings, the artist suggest a slideshow in two parts recounting the way between two big hotels of Normandy, where lived in one Marguerite Duras and in the other, Marcel Proust.
