COSMOS Lili Reynaud Dewar / Ivan Argote
Théodora Domenech invite Lili Reynaud Dewar and Ivan Argote
COSMOS I
Is a World without Artifice Conceivable?
For a Cosmetic Cosmology
The term «cosmos» originally meant both «universe» and «ornament». Surprisingly, distinct and almost contradictory realities coexist in the word: the real and the artifice, truth and illusion, depth and surface. Doesn’t any creation, whether artistic, philosophical or scientific, always oscillate between a «cosmology» and a «cosmetic»? The point is indeed to observe the world and talk about it, but also to dress it up and invent it.
COSMOS is a project that involves interdisciplinary encounters and proposes to connect metaphysical questions, the search for truth and the absolute with anthropological issues centering on pleasure, appearance and illusion. For the inaugural evening, philosopher and art critic Théodora Domenech has invited two artists, Lili Reynaud Dewar and Ivan Argote. The ambition of the round table will be to outline what may be akin to a manifesto for a «cosmetic cosmology».
