Philosophy... Where It is not expected
A discussion with Rosi Braidotti around her book La philosophie … là où on ne l’attend pas [« Philosophy… Where it is not expected »], Larousse, Paris, 2010.
Learning the art of reasoning within a framework and following precise rules: that is the primary mission of philosophy. Yet today, in a society dominated by globalization and new media of communication, this function is threatened, and contemporary philosophy is going through both an identity crisis and an institutional crisis. What is the point of philosophizing? What for? And with whom? Rosi Braidotti’s book explores in an original manner how, stripped of its former prestige, philosophy has to transform radically and point to new directions for thought, off the beaten track.
Rosi Braidotti holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from Université Paris-I. Her fields of research are European philosophy and gender studies.
