Liza Maignan is the laureate of the TextWork 2023 writing grant
Liza Maignan is the laureate of the second edition of TextWork's writing grant. Extending the programme of the TextWork editorial platform, created by Fondation Pernod Ricard with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, this grant invites young local writers to take a look at an artistic scene in France from a set of theoretical and aesthetic references.
TextWork's advisory committee, composed of François Aubart, Virginie Bobin and Elodie Royer, chose Liza Maignan's project. The laureate will receive a grant and editorial support to develop her text and, for this 2023 edition, a short stay at the Archives de la Critique d'Art in Rennes to further her research. Her text will be translated into English and published in both languages in the fall of 2023.
Liza Maignan (born in 1990) is a curator, independent author and director at Florence Loewy gallery. She graduated with a DNSEP from Institut supérieur des arts de Toulouse, Fine Arts department (2016) and a professional master degree "L’art contemporain et son exposition" from Sorbonne Université (2019).
Maignan's text "Rumeurs des villes (City Rumours)" (working title) will focus on a new cartography of places in which artists with multiple professional activities live and/or work, inhabited by an initial need for de-precarisation and whose desires for audimat give way to a reconfiguration of autonomous, daily and cooperative practices. And so, to observe the impact of this decentralisation and the influence of these new rural scenes, which together draw a movement of zoom in and zoom out within our territory.
