Aperto: Things always come in three (LYL Radio)

Saturday 5 October 2024 at 7 pm

An event curated by Zoé Couppé and Dorian Vallet-Oheix as part of LYL Radio's residency at Aperto.

Creating a passageway, a space for voices to resonate. The air circulates, the space is open and becomes a giant instrument. They whistle, tap, shout, perhaps articulate and murmur.

The event opens with a performance by Chloë Janssens. In fragmented lyrics, Chloë Janssens brings together faith, fury and feminism in dark red sanctuaries. Through long sermons, she seeks out the transcendental capacities of speech, song, rhythm and voice in their ability to release anger, rage and grief.

You can then listen to Zoe Heselton, a British-French poet and musician based in Strasbourg. A practitioner of spoken word poetry, she draws on her experiences as a trans woman to write texts in the form of litanies, lists and narratives that tell the political story from the intimate.

The evening ends with a live performance by transdisciplinary Afrofeminist artist, visual artist and musician Low Lov. He is developing a polymorphous body of work in which the different practices are part of a principle of continuity that could be described as energetic or vibratory. In his performances, concerts and installations, Low Lov turns to an ancestral spirituality in order to ward off the codes and devices of the patriarchal colonial West, and at the same time to produce portals to other, organically desirable worlds, ready to welcome our creative power.
