Lou Villapadierna - Laboratory for research and experimentation in poetry and sound
Between January and March 2025, the Fondation Pernod Ricard is hosting Lou Villapadierna for a research-creation residency at Aperto.
At Aperto, the artist-researcher will use the space as a laboratory for poetic and sound research and experimentation. In this context, she will extend her theoretical and sonic explorations, and listen to the multiple spectral traces of these voices with their abstract and/or under-listened-to tonalities. From mouth to paper, her research into these voices unfolds through self-narrative, vocal theory and poetry.
During this residency, Lou Villapadierna will set up Aperto as an echo chamber to host these disturbing polyphonic voices, both in their sonic identifications and in the storytelling they carry. The artist will develop an experimental work mobilizing four approaches: sound recording, vocal experimentation, sound broadcasting and poetic writing. This individual work, in the intimacy of the studio, will be complemented by invitations to other artists and performers, and collective practice sessions to which the public will be invited from time to time. Ongoing work will be regularly shared online, through iconographic, poetic and sound fragments, constituting a media library of "outres-voix". Lou Villapadierna will also take over one of Aperto's windows overlooking the street, as the page on which daily poetry is written, available at all times to passers-by.
