Hilary Galbreaith

Hilary Galbreaith was born in Florida in 1989; they live and work in Rennes.
They graduated from the Higher School of Art Annecy Alps (DNSEP/MFA, Annecy) in 2017, and from the University of Mary Washington (BA, Philosophy and Fine Arts, Virginia) in 2012. Mixing video, drawing, writing, sound and installation, Galbreaith sets up narratives - fictional or documentary - in search of strange, playful forms that address issues of contemporary, hypercapitalist societies. They have exhibited at the Lyon Biennial (2024), the Kunsthalle Mulhouse (coll. 2024), Glassbox - Paris (coll. 2023), the Gue(oh)st House de la Synagogue de Delme (coll. 2022), CAC Passerelle (solo 2021), the Salon de Montrouge (2021), the Frac Bretagne (2021), Cripta747 (Turin, coll. 2019), +DEDE (Berlin, solo 2019), and In Extenso (Clermont-Ferrand, solo 2019). They have also participated in residencies such as Lindre-Basse/Le Synagogue de Delme (2022), Cripta747 Residency Program (Turin, Italy, 2019), and GENERATOR/40mcube (Rennes, France, 2017-2018). Since 2020, they have been teaching video at the Brittany Higher School of Art – Rennes site.
