Launch of artist monograph

Alun Williams is a history painter, but he does not paint coronations like David or war scenes like Gros. Instead, Alun Williams tells the history of painting. He humorously summons Raphaël, Goya, Ingres, Picasso, Chirico, Magritte… inviting us to take a lighter look at art, « unburdened » by the weight of history.

In this book he tells us about Jules Verne, Edgar Poe, Garibaldi, and many other figures who made their mark on History and histories -literature, politics, science, art. These characters are as many chances to question the history of art, thought, and representation. The book offers a completely off-beat, caustic, and unexpected look on art in general and on the work of Alun Williams in particular.
