As part of their partnership, Villa Medici and the TextWork platform have entrusted the Italian author and curator Caterina Riva with the production of a text dedicated to the work of the artist Benoît Maire, currently a resident at the Académie de France in Rome (class of 2021-2022). This monographic study will be published in the summer of 2022 in French and English and will enrich the TextWork corpus, contributing to opening spaces for dialogue and reflection on art in France.

A public restitution of the work in progress is proposed on February 10 at Villa Medici through a meeting-dialogue with Benoît Maire and Caterina Riva, in the presence also of the French artist Pauline Curnier Jardin, resident at Villa Medici in 2019-2020, and Ana Teixeira Pinto, author of a TextWork dedicated to the work of the latter and published in 2018. The meeting, moderated by the TextWork committee, will be an opportunity for a conversation to revisit the collaborative process around monographic texts and its extension beyond writing. Participants will share their experiences and the aftermath of their encounter as part of the TextWork x Villa Medici program.

Introduction by Colette Barbier, Director of the Pernod Ricard Foundation and Sam Stourdzé, Director of the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici.
