DÉ-CAMOUFLAGE, performance/lecture by Skye Arundhati Thomas & Isis Labeau-Caberia
With the curator Skye Arundhati Thomas and the authoress Isis Labeau-Caberia
Skye Arundhati Thomas and Isis Labeau-Caberia present a performance/lecture confronting the pervasiveness of the colonial gaze by weaving together speculative fictions, excavated personal narratives, and destabilised archives. Through a collage of mediums—haunting voiceover, dissonant live music, projected image, video, poetry, and intimate anecdote—the duo will interrogate how dominant visual and narrative frameworks flatten time, history, and resistance. A family photo album bleeds into colonial cartography; a historian’s lecture fractures into speculative myth. By melding critical theory with embodied ritual, the performance invites audiences to undo the cliches of singular stories while imagining fugitive modes of reclamation and remembrance—where gaps, echoes, and silences become sites of reckoning.
« Échos à Paris noir », an event in the context of the exhibition entitled "Paris Noir" at the Centre Pompidou until June 30.
