Être Postmoderne

Thursday 1 February 2018 at 7 pm

New lecture of the Invitations to the Imaginary.

On the occasion of the release of his new book, Être Postmoderne, Michel Maffesoli (professor emeritus at the Sorbonne) will meet Hélène Strohl (honorary chief inspector of social affairs) and Guillaume Fédou (editor-in-chief of Playboy Magazine) to discuss the imagination of contemporary society: postmodernity.

This is not a fashionable “concept”, but rather a way of calling the world what it is. Understanding it instead of judging it.

Thus we will take a new look at: the rhetorical device of the OXYMORON, being simultaneously this and that; “JUVENOIA”, the return of the eternal child; “METAPOLITICS” and the “SACRED”, the emergence of various forms of religiosity.

The discussion will also turn to the application of these characteristics to a contemporary politician, Emmanuel Macron, by considering whether this man, who wanted to embody the contemporary imagination, is an icon or a “fake” of postmodernity.
