The fate of the universe
The bestiary of astrophysics abounds in strange creatures: pallid « white dwarfs, » « hyper-dense neutron stars, » « apocalyptic supernovae, » etc. These various metaphors show well enough how the journey to the heart of the invisible overlaps with the dreams and fantasies which have been so central to the human nature from time immemorial.
To discuss this issue, Michel Maffesoli, a member of the Institut universitaire de France, has invited astrophysicist Jean-Pierre Luminet, who is also a research director at the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), and CEAQ researcher Aurélien Fouillet.
