Fiction / Performed readings #3

Monday 16 June 2008 at 7 pm

For the third installment of the « Fiction/Lectures Performées » series at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Christian Alandete and Agnès Violeau are presenting two new performances.

With Le Voyage d’hiver, Fanny de Chaillé proposes a synonymic version of Georges Perec’s book. In an homage to the master of constraints in literature, she completely rewrites the text with a reading akin to oral performance.

For Wandering Souls, Sandy Amerio and Patrick Bouvet have worked on common concerns, at once political and cinephilic, to put forth a genuine « trip » which runs from the late 1960s (the Vietnam war and its images, zombie and gore movies with their aesthetics of ugliness and impurity) to the 1970s (the Watergate scandal, political films) to the beginning of the 21st century (9/11, Iraq, amateur videos). This is a run through history and its fiction factory or, to put it differently, through the manufacture of internal and external enemies meant to instill fear in the minds.

BIOGRAPHIES

Sandy Amerio

Lives and works in Paris

A protean artist working with video, photography, music, and text, she deciphers the signs of contemporary society to understand its faults. Her almost ethnographic method pushes back the boundaries between reality and fiction in a personal practice of storytelling. Her work has appeared at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, Mac Val, and in New York, a city from which she is coming back after a one-year stay.

Patrick Bouvet

Lives and works in Paris

After devoting himself to musical creation in the 1980s, Patrick Bouvet pursued a practice of sampling and musical collage in writing during the 1990s.

Through incisive and subversive poetic texts published at the Editions de l’Olivier and Inventaire/Invention, Bouvet has established himself as an original writer, exploring by turns modern mythologies, the relation to the body, violence, terrorism, and paranoia. He has published a dozen books, including Canons (2007).

Fanny de Chaillé

Lives and works in Paris

Fanny de Chaillé has experimented jointly with sound poetry, oral performance, and dance. As a director, choreographer, or performer, she has created several installations and performances involving poetry or text: « le karaokurt » [« the karaoghurt »], « la pierre de causette » (a play on words with the French for « Rosetta stone » and « chat »), « le Robert » (a reference to the classic dictionary of the French language), « ta ta ta, » and more recently « Gonzo Conférence » as part of the Festival Cargo at the Ménagerie de Verre in Paris. She is currently in residence at Chamarande near Paris for the creation of her new play.
