Guest program. Launch of the books Monstera Deliciosa and Slumber Party by Benoît Piéron
Program:
Talk with Benoît Piéron and Elisabeth Lebovici, art historian and critic.
Followed by book sales
The conversation between Benoît Piéron and Elisabeth Lebovici is part of a long-term exchange undertaken by the artist and the critic and art historian. Together, they will continue reflections carried out during previous discussions that took place at the MUMOK (Vienna) on the occasion of Benoît Piéron’s personal exhibition “Monstera Deliciosa”, and at the Palais de Tokyo as part of the exhibition "EXPOSÉ·ES" in which the artist participated and whose scientific advisor was Elisabeth Lebovici.
Monstera Deliciosa opens with a “Moodboard section”, with an essay by Elisabeth Lebovici, then returns to the artist’s eponymous exhibition, notably through a conversation between Benoît Piéron and curator Manuella Ammer. The "Monstera Deliciosa" exhibition took as its figure the “waiting room” as a place of metamorphosis in which the outside world intrudes, in the form of enigmatic objects and images – snow globes, sky of clouds, lights, shadows, flight of light, water.
Slumber Party is the first monograph by French artist Benoît Piéron, presenting a new body of work that explores illness and hallucination as spaces of potential and abundance. This work was published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at the Chisenhale Gallery, London, in 2023.
