Le devenir baroque du monde

Wednesday 18 March 2015 at 7 pm

Michel Maffesoli and the editorial board of Cahiers Européens de l’Imaginaire invite you to explore with them.

Talking about the Baroque is, needless to say, to refer to the paintings of Rubens, Caravaggio’s chiaroscuoro, and the High Gothic style of cathedrals. But the Baroque is not just the style of a period, it is a style that can take on various forms, depending on the period. The image invades the street, with Street Art and its various remakes, the performances of an artist like ORLAN, the proposals of artists like Jeff Koons and Ray Caesar, cosplay and other artefacts… Architecture leaves functionalism in the city of music in Rio de Janeiro (De Portzamparc), the Baroque museum of Puebla (Mexico, Toyo Ito)… The writing of Nabakov and that of Marc Edouard Nabe express this Baroque-ness.

Baroque and postmodernity, Baroque and the everyday, this is what is explored by this issue no. 7 of Cahiers européens de l’imaginaire, with contributions by Michel Maffesoli, René Schérer, Franco Ferrarotti, Karin Andersen, Mario Perniola, Fabian Sanabria, Miguel Madonnado, Ignatio Prado, Marie-Isabelle Taddéi and many more.
