In the Library of Georges Didi-Huberman
During this meeting, Sylvain Bourmeau will invite Georges Didi-Huberman to open the doors of his library.
As part of the « In the Library of » series, designed in partnership with AOC and hosted by Sylvain Bourmeau, the Pernod Ricard Foundation welcomes the prolific philosopher and art historian Georges Didi-Huberman.
Director of studies at the EHESS, Georges Didi-Huberman is the author of more than fifty works that examine the links between iconography, history and memory. From the Renaissance to the work of contemporary artists, Didi-Huberman’s thinking is also put to work as a curator of exhibitions marked by a political reading of the contexts in which images appear: « Nouvelles histoires de fantômes » with Arno Gisinger at the Palais de Tokyo in 2014 and « SOULÈVEMENTS » at the Jeu de Paume in 2017. He has received numerous awards, including the Aby Warburg Prize, the Max Weber Prize, the Alexander von Humboldt Prize, the Theodor W. Adorno Prize, and, on September 26, 2021, the Walter Benjamin Special Prize for his body of work, for the essential contribution it makes to the updating of Walter Benjamin’s thought in the 21st century.
