Marlène Huissoud and Romain Noël

Wednesday 16 November 2022 at 7 pm

"Poésie Plateforme" organizes, under the supervision of Jérôme Mauche, singular tête à tête between an artist and a personality from other fields of thought.

This "Poésie Plateforme" meeting at the Fondation Pernod Ricard aims to explore, in the face of current environmental disasters, renewed ways of living, doing and creating in relation to other states of the living. With audacity and method, starting from the processes specific to insects as well as the horizon of becoming a mushroom, Marlène Huissoud, artist and designer, and Romain Noël, poet and theorist, elaborate alternative forms and thoughts.

After studying at the ENSBA in Lyon and Central Saint Martins in London, Marlène Huissoud developed an experimental work between art, design and science that questions our ways of producing and acting. She uses insects, from the common bee to the Indian silkworm, to inspire her techniques and concepts. She currently favors workshops of transmission and sharing. She has received numerous awards and nominations in creative design. She has exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Chamber in New York, Design Miami-Basel, Museu del Desseny in Barcelona, the Artipelag Museum in Stockholm, Design Days in Dubai, the Rosana Orlandi Gallery in Milan, the MAK in Vienna, among others. In 2022, the Saint-Etienne Biennial, the MAD in Paris, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the FRAC Centre, the Moulin de Sainte-Marie in Boissy-Le-Châtel, as well as in London, the Design Museum and Future Heritage, presented his work.

Romain Noël is a poet and theorist. He is the author of Errare, Fata Morgana, 2013, as well as reflective and creative texts; such as "BDSM Apocalypse", lundimatin, 2021. His transdisciplinary research focuses on regimes of affect in the anthropocene era and artistic resistances to extinction processes. He will soon submit a thesis on these subjects to the Centre d'histoire de Sciences Po. He coordinated with Marielle Macé the issue of the journal Critique " Vivre dans un monde abîmé ", 2019. He is also interested in ways of abolishing fiction and reality, leading a life as a visual artist under the name Youri Johnson.

Youri Johnson is a fiction which produces fictions. His existence is made of poems, theoretical texts, objects, but also of more obscure things. He published Mycelium. Petit conte post-apocalyptique, Le Murmure, 2021 (preface by Romain Noël). The whole forms L'art secret de la guerre secrète, fragments of which are read, published or shown in numerous exhibitions in France and abroad. One of his installations will soon be presented as part of the Grand Désenvoûtement at the Palais de Tokyo.
