Romancing the Economy

Tuesday 8 October 2013 at 7 pm

Most often, the crisis is considered as a purely economic phenomenon, analyzed and countered with the rational concepts this discipline has to offer. And yet the crisis shows first and foremost that we have changed paradigms, with the emergence of new values, new ways of being in the world and in society.
Gaspard Koenig describes just this global phenomenon in his book La Nuit de la faillite [The night of bankruptcy], published by Grasset & Fasquelle in June 2013. In Koenig’s work the crisis becomes an adventure and owes as much to changing relations between different generations, social classes, continents and cultures as to a mere monetary equation. Gaspard Koenig turns the crisis of States into a sentimental novel: does that make him any less convincing?

To answer this question, Michel Maffesoli has invited the author himself and researcher Aurélien Fouillet (CEAQ).
