« Oscillating between a teenage bedroom and a dreamscape, Lakhrissi takes refuge in the depths of feelings of alienation, doubt and otherness. A lyrical reflection on alternative, futuristic queer worlds and minority communities. SICK SAD WORLD is part of an ongoing cycle of reflection by Tarek Lakhrissi in which he explores alternative futuristic worlds where expressions of queer and minority communities are embodied in « fabulations » or other fictions. After working on the idea of the nightclub as a liminal and utopian arena (Chameleon Club, 2019), Lakhrissi turns to the space of dreams and the teenage bedroom through the character of Daria (MTV, 1997-2002) to examine non-human identity in a supernatural environment. The installation will be activated during a performance deeply influenced by desiring ghosts and pillow talk combined with lip sync. »
