Jakob Lena Knebl solo show.

Jakob Lena Knebl was born in 1970 in Baden, Austria. She lives and works in Vienne and Berlin. She is represented by Belmacz Gallery in London and Georg Kargl Gallery in Vienna. In her works she is questioning how identities are co-constructed through art and design and how they can be transformed within these disciplines. Recent works have intervened with the compositions of other artists artworks, historic and contemporary, as well as objects of contemporary European culture borrowed from Fashion or Design, and otherwise. This manifests in multimedia installations, that the artist calls “desirerooms”. Jakob Lena Knebl graduated from University of Applied Arts in Fashion Studies and the Akademie of Fine Art in Textual Sculpting, 2006. Recent solo exhibitions include Oh… Jakob Lena Knebl und die mumok Sammlung, mumok, Vienna (2017), There are more Things, Pavillion der Tiroler Künstlerschaft, Innsbruck (2014), An Eye on a Disposition of a Cloud, Salzburger Kunstverein, Salzburg (2013), KÖR, Memorial for gay, lesbian, transgender victims of nationalists, Morzinplatz, Vienna (2012).
