Their worlds and works are striking for their inventiveness, their ambitiousness, and their luxurious sense of beauty. Those two contemporary masterpieces, the novel Arcadia and the film The Wild Boys, have something of an elective affinity between them. They share the same intensity in their adventure and education stories, they both search for a collective utopia, and both consider gender fluidity. Images and lyricism are at the heart of their creative process.

Emmanuelle Bayamack-Tam is one of the most talented novelists of her generation. Her subtle, precise language is placed in the service of picaresque narratives that dramatize social worlds and unexpected bodies. All of her work is published by P.O.L: Rai-de-coeur, Tout ce qui brille, Hymen, Une fille du feu, Si tout n’a pas péri avec mon innocence, Mon père m’a donné un mari, Je viens, Arcadie (published in English translation as Arcadia by Seven Stories Press). With P.O.L, she also publishes crime novels under the pseudonym Rebecca Lighieri: Husbands, Les garçons de l’été, Il est des hommes qui se perdront toujours. She has won numerous literary prizes.

Bertrand Mandico has made several short, medium-length and feature-length films with a fascinating aesthetic and strange atmospheres: La Chanson du jardinier fou; Le Cavalier Bleu; Il dit qu’il est mort; Sa majesté petite barbe; Burlesque et froid; Boro in the Box; Souvenirs d’un montreur de seins; Féminisme, Rafale et Politique; Notre-Dame des hormones; The Wild Boys; Ultra Pulpe. He also conducts many experiments combining the literary, experimental and musical worlds. He creates hybrid cinematic genres while exploring his dream universe. His films have won prizes at the most prestigious film festivals.
