Art, secret ruler of our times
Artists today occupy a particular position: they reveal social and symbolic forms experienced silently by the social body. Accordingly, there probably is a secret correspondence between forms produced by the artist and those structuring the imagination of a society for which s/he performs a sort of ventriloquy. This tenuous connection between artists and the society in which they live is sometimes denied or contentious: it should be examined.
To answer these questions, Michel Maffesoli has invited Jean de Loisy, President of the Palais de Tokyo, art critic and curator, and Stéphane Hugon, director of ERANOS, qualitative research company specializing in the sociology of imagination.
