Justine Emard
Born in 1987, she lives and works in Paris.
Justine Emard explores the new relationships between our lives and technology. By combining different image technologies – photography, video, virtual reality and performance – she situates her work within a flow combining robotics, neuroscience, organic life and artificial intelligence.
Her work has been exhibited at the Moscow International Biennial of Contemporary Art and in museums such as the NRW Forum (Düsseldorf), the National Museum of Singapore, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Itaú Cultural Institute (São Paulo), the Cinémathèque Québécoise (Montreal), the Irish Museum of Modern Art (Dublin), the Mori Art Museum (Tokyo), the MOT Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Barbican Center (London) and the World Museum (Liverpool). In 2017, he was laureate of Hors-les-murs, the French Institute’s residency in Tokyo, in residence at the ZKM, Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe in 2020, and laureate of the national photographic commission « IMAGE 3.0 » of the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) in partnership with the Jeu de Paume in Paris. In 2021-22, she is a guest artist-professor at Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains and artist in residence at CNES – Observatoire de l’Espace.
