Lenio Kaklea is a dancer, choreographer, artist and stage director born in Athens, Greece. She lives and works in Paris. She studied at the National Conservatory of Contemporary Dance (SSCD) in Athens, where she trained in classical ballet and modern American techniques and repertoires such as those of Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Jose Limon. Since 2009, Lenio Kaklea has used different media: choreography, text and video. Her artistic practice is inspired by feminism and post-colonial thought. In her work, she explores the production of subjectivity through the organised transmission of movements and reveals the intimate spaces in which we construct our identity. Alongside her personal choreographic work, she engages in collaborations with other artists.
