Event

Clément Cogitore et Philippe Grandrieux

Wednesday 25 January 2023 at 7 pm

"Poésie Plateforme" organizes, under the supervision of Jérôme Mauche, singular tête à tête between an artist and a personality from other fields of thought.

The Pernod Ricard Foundation, as part of the "Poésie Plateforme" cycle, proposes an exceptional meeting between the artist Clément Cogitore and the filmmaker Philippe Gandrieux.

After studying at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg and at the Fresnoy - Studio National des Arts Contemporains - Clément Cogitore developed a practice at the crossroads of contemporary art and cinema. Mixing films, videos, installations and photographs, his work questions the modalities of cohabitation of men with their images. It is often a question of rituals, collective memory, figuration of the sacred and a certain idea of the permeability of worlds.
His films have been selected and awarded in many international festivals (Cannes, Locarno, Telluride, Los Angeles, San Sebastian).

After studying cinema at INSAS, Philippe Grandrieux presented his first installation Via la vidéo at the Albert Baronian Gallery (Brussels) in 1976, and in 1998 he directed Sombre (awarded at Locarno), his first feature film. Since then, Philippe Grandrieux's work has been developed around fiction (2002 La Vie nouvelle, 2008 Un lac awarded at Venice, 2016 Malgré la nuit), documentary, performance, installation and is characterized by a constant tension between plasticity and narration.
