The exhibition of our dreams
Conferences directed by Jérôme Mauche : watch the video of the meeting !
At this Poetry Platform session, the art critic, exhibition curator and writer Jean-Max Colard will meet the poet, essayist and photographer Gérard Macé. They are akin through a writing involving fragments, deliberate memory and reflexive attention which, with subtlety and inventiveness, dialogues with present art forms, dreamt and practiced alike.
Jean-Max Colard is an art critic, exhibition curator and writer. He recently published L’exposition de mes rêves, MAMCO, 2013, a collection of his dreams to do with contemporary art exhibitions, be they probable, imaginary or real. A set of texts—some of them already published on the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard website—which, through dreams, propose another form of art exploration and writing. As the author and curator of many exhibitions, in addition to his participation in the Printemps de Septembre at the invitation of Christian Bernard, we are also indebted to him for, among other things, Perpetual battles at the Baibakov Art Projects in Moscow, in 2010, Vous arrivez trop tard at the Les Eglises Art Centre at Chelles, and La nuit des tableaux-vivants II as part of the Belleville Biennale, in 2012. He has devised many projects at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, the Villa Arson, the Friche Belle de Mai, the Serpentine Gallery, and the CAPC. In charge of the Inrocks arts page, he is the author of texts and studies about contemporary artists and writers. He also lectures at the Université de Lille 3.
Gérard Macé’s books are so many questions and daydreams about places and signs, in the form of prose poems, essays and narratives where art has a predominant place. Since 1997 he has been developing and exhibiting a photographic oeuvre which extends the challenges of his literary work.
