20 ans d’art en France Une histoire sinon rien
Published on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard Prize, this book presents an overview of the French art scene since 1999.
It is not self-celebratory, but fully delves into this scene, whose development the Fondation gave itself the mission of actively contributing to. It is first and foremost a book of images, bringing together a wide range of exhibition views. This rich and diverse history gives a sense of the core strengths and changes in contemporary art, driven by several generations of artists in this early twenty-first century. The book was co-edited by Michel Gauthier, a curator at the Centre Pompidou’s Musée national d'art moderne and an associate professor at Paris-Sorbonne University, and Marjolaine Lévy, an art historian and curator who teaches the history of art and graphic design at EESAB in Rennes.
