Grichka Commaret was born in Vitry sur Seine in 1987.

Grichka Commaret is a painter. In his airbrushed paintings, he evokes “communal” references: public transport, city lights, surveillance systems or brutalist architecture, but also his own family history and the history of the neighbourhood where he grew up. His small formats establish a non-authoritarian relationship to painting in which the viewer is forced to move closer to observe the intensity of the details. Like a story unfolding in the space, these little black windows describe a city in flux. From one canvas to the next, forms converse and modify, like a surrealist poetry describing an unstable world in which striking mouths and ghostly silhouettes can suddenly emerge. Each figure that emerges is buried under an array of non-figurative elements and seems subject to an underlying urgency. His work has been the subject of several exhibitions in France, Germany and Switzerland
