James Richards was born in Cardiff, UK, in 1983, and lives and works in Berlin.

James Richards' practice goes beyond the usual constraints of film and video projection by accumulating images, giving the whole an impression of incompleteness. James Richards' work has already been the subject of numerous exhibitions. Solo exhibitions include Half_Life at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo in 2024 (forthcoming); When We Were Monsters at Haus Mödrath in Kerpen in 2021; Alms For The Birds at Castello Di Rivoli in Turin in 2020; Migratory Motor Complex, at Collective Gallery in Edinburgh in 2019. His group shows include: Crumbling The Antiseptic Beauty at Fondation Pernod Ricard in Paris in 2024 (forthcoming); Workers in Song at Mudam in Luxembourg in 2024 (forthcoming); The First Finger (Chapter II), Haus am Waldsee, Berlin in 2023; WORLD CLASSROOM: Contemporary Art through School Subjects at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo in 2023.
