Launch Corps flottants by Constance Guisset

‘Constance Guisset draws. Often in the studio, where drawing may be the starting point for an idea that will go on to become a design or scenography object. But drawing also comes along when she is at rest, during moments of suspension, free from any duty or purpose. Then, it is no longer a question of drawing to work, but of drawing to free oneself. Corps flottants [Floating Bodies] is a series born out of this spontaneity: it was at sea that these ‘ghosts of lockdown’, as Constance Guisset likes to call them, first took shape. This book, deliberately devoid of text, affords these pencil drawings a space of unfettered expression. Colourful and mischievous spectres shift and transform themselves as the pages turn, eventually becoming illuminated ghosts on black pages. When we close the book, the drawings leave their imprint on our retinas, like the legacy of a memory that not even the motion of the sea can completely erase.’
